Bettws 3

A force 10 gale blew through Spytty Park today for the visit of high flying Bettws .
Both sides needed a victory , Llanwern to have a slim hope of holding on to a promotion push and Bettws to stay right on the tale of top placed Barry Town .
Bettws playing into the wind were the livelier side in the opening 25 minutes but it was Llanwern who took the lead after 26 minutes when a delightful ball from Marcus Power saw striker Steve Perszewski dive full stretch to glance the ball passed a hapless bettws keeper with his head . Bettws again kept tyring to play and a good save from Hart on 33 minutes kept the wern in front . On 39 minutes a thunder bolt from Matt Currie from 25 yards was superbly tipped over by keeper Davies . Oerszewski could have made it 2 right on half time but his outstreched foot only managed to knock the ball over the bar .

HT 1-0

The Steelmen knew things would be tough against the ferocious wind and Bettws pushed and pushed for an equalizer but heroic defending and some excellent handling from Hart kept them at bay . Tanner was cautioned on 61 minutes for a late challenge . On 61 minutes a Wern counter attack saw Currie drive into the area at defenders and his shot was only parried into the net for 2-0.
Unfortunately Llanwern immediately switched off and within a minute of the restart Bettws were back in the game when an effort hit the bar and Binnings attemoted clearance struck tanner in the face and went in , 2-1.
Llanwern were now under the cosh and in the 79th minute it was 2-2 when poor marking form a free kick allowed a free header that keeper Hart could only push into the corner of the net . Things got worse for Llanwern when Tanner recieved a very harsh second yellow card for obstruction on 81 minutesand was sent off , it was real backs to the wall defending now and it looked like a point each was order of the day when in the 92nd minute a great solo run into the box and finish saw Bettws take three valuable and it must be said well deserved points.

Its Cardiff Corinthians at Home now on Wednesday night and a time for everyone to lift themselves for what will be another tough test !!!
