When you have major injuries , suspensions , people working and no keeper what is the one cp draw you dont want ????

Spot on , Goytre United Away !! The first division leaders and unbeaten side.

No Currie and Binning ( work ) , Aviss ( suspension ) , Fernquest ( injured ), Church ( cuptied ) and skipper Shire just making up the numbers on the bench with a hamstring injury.
In stepped youngster Giles Cutlan for his debut between the sticks and Leighton Golledge returned at centre half.
The Steelmen set out their intent from the off with an attacking 433 formation and caused their illustrious opponents problems immediately and Danny Penn had a header cleared off the line on 12 minutes from a Vaux cross , at the otherend Giles Cutlan made two excellent stops , Captain Spiteris wonderful through ball on 22 minutes found Hooper who controlled the ball shrugged off his opponent and finished well under the keeper for a deservrd 1-0 lead. The game was end to end abd despite numerous half chances the score remained the same at the break .
Goytre 0-1 Llanwern AFC
Llanwern started the second period well and both sides were intent on attacking football but it was the Steelmen who scored next when a Pimm sliderule pass sent Vaux away and he outpaced the defence and finished with a super shot from 10 yards for 2-0.
The home team piled on the pressure and on 62 and 69 minutes they scored to bring the tie level. More chamces were missed at either end and the tie looked like going to extra time . Power attacked down the left and refused to give the ball up and gained a corner off the keeper who had rushed out , he took a quick corner that left the keeper scrambling back to his goal and the impressive Tom Hooper came flying in at the near post to direct his header into the roof of the net for 3-2 with just 4 minutes remaining . With the clock clicking down manager Owen was about to make a sub when Danny Penn slid out of play by the opposing dug out and was approached by the opposition assistant ?? Danny appeared to flick his muddy hands at the assistant and was then in what can be only described as a full on assault punched to the floor and kicked as he hit the floor!! mayhem obviously ensued for about 30 seconds but then the referee amazingly sent Penn off and the agieng bald guy to the stands !!!! He deserves a lengthy ban and we will be asking to see the referees report .
Worse was to come with 92 minutes on the clock the referee somehow gave a free kick to Goytre for a foul fom Golledge and to be fair the lad who hit the free kick from 25 yards hit a screamer into the top corner and he will probably never hit one like it again .

It sent the game into extra time and Llawern were now a player down and found the advantage to much to cope with concedeing a goal in each half to lose the tie 5-3.
On reflection The Steelmen were 30 seconds from arguably a deserved big scalp but it wasnt to be but again credit to the team who pulled out another good performance as Phil Collins said "against all odds" .

Hopefully a few more bodies available for Wednesday's home game and a big push in commitment and performance from all players will see us move back up the table where we probably deserve to be !!!
