Without Mike Binning , Luke Fernquest , Keiron Porter and Matt Smith the one positive was the unexpected return to the squad of Marcus Power who took his place on the bench.
The game was an evenely fought contest but an injury to Leighton Golledge on 28 minutes resulted in the first goal of the game when straight after his substitution there was still some uncertainty defensively and the porth striker got free from his marker to slot home from 18 yards via the far post.
Chances came for Mike Vaux and Tom Hooper but both failed to convert either chance .
Ht porth 1-0 llanwern
Credit must go to the steelmen who dominated the second period possesion wise but really failed to trouble the porth goal and were caught out with a sucker punch on 72 minutes when a Shier pass was intercepted and despatched from 15 yards out .
FT Porth 2-0 Llanwern AFC
So its relegation , some can say its not deserved and its undeserved but standards have dropped from top to bottom and now its rebuild and set new goals , new ideas and new faces have been discussed and its onwards and upwards from now .
Presentation night and the usual good evening is expected , see you all there Friday 21st May , Newport Cricket Club , 7.00pm Prompt ( Omega time ).
