Welcome returns for Hooper , Binning , Morris , Shire and Pimm were still not enough to gain a vital three points needed for a glimmer of hope for division two status next season , Leighton Golledge cooly slotting home a 39th minute penalty but the home team were level within four minutes when a 30 yard wonder volley flew into the top corner with everyone stood in amazement including the scorer !! The first half was an even enoiugh affair without many chances created and either keeper called into action

The second half saw the visitors up the effort , Keeper Nicky Church was forced into one excellent save after 20 minutes but this was his only action of the half . Matthew Pimm was introduced to the fray and had an immediate impact as an attacking 4-3-3 formation was set Unfortunately Mike Aviss headed over after a good move and his strike was finger tipped onto the crossbar , Mike Vaux was through on goal three times but spurned all his chances ,.
The home team were playing a very high defensive line with the introduction of Porter and Shipley they were playing a dangerous game . The unfortunate Porter was carried off after only 10 minutes of action leaving the Steelmen to play out a game they were chasing hard with only 10 men ,

and as has been the story of the season really , that little bit of lady luck just wasnt with them as balls rolled wide , over the top etc etc
